Build Strategy: Power and Torque

Power carries the top end. Torque gets the car off the line. Tap and hold a part and drag it onto your layout to see the difference.

Power and Torque are two of the four stats on a car and on each part. You see them as bars in the Garage. Tap the garage icon at the bottom of the screen, then tap Parts. The full definitions are on What the Car Stats Do.

PowerPower is this gauge icon in the Garage. It sets top speed and helps acceleration, so more Power improves the best time the car can run.

TorqueTorque is this icon in the Garage. It is the strongest piece of the launch, so more Torque gets the car moving sooner off the starting line.

They are not free. High Power with low Endurance wears Durability down faster. High Power with low Handling makes the car harder to control. High Torque with low Handling adds swerve and makes a perfect start harder. If the timeslip shows a strong light and a weak finish, look at Power. If the 60-foot time is the weak split, look at Torque.

How to compare two parts

  1. Tap the garage icon at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Tap Parts.
  3. Tap and hold a part, then drag it onto the part already on the car. As you drag it up, the bars show the difference. You do not have to drop it to see that, and you do not have to open Info.
  4. If Power or Torque goes up and Handling or Endurance drops, that is the tradeoff. Drop the part to equip it, or drag it back if you do not want it.
  5. Run the race and read the 60-foot time and the 1,000-foot time on the timeslip.

The same garage path is in How to Change Cars or Parts. Raising a part you keep is in How to Upgrade Cars or Parts. Handling and Endurance have their own pages: Build Strategy: Handling and Build Strategy: Endurance.
